At a press conference after the meeting, Zelenskyy said he had asked Trump for support for the winter with American Patriot missiles to strengthen Ukrainian air defences.
He also said he hopes the US can succeed in bringing Russia to the negotiating table. Ahead of the meeting, Trump said he believes it will be possible to reach an agreement on a ceasefire.
He also described Ukraine's long-range attacks on Russian oil refineries as "a major blow to the Russians."

After the meeting, Zelenskyy reiterated his willingness to stop attacks on energy infrastructure if Russia stops such attacks.
