Ukraine will not hold elections until there is a ceasefire and the country has received sufficient security guarantees, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified, following reports that the United States had pressured Ukraine to hold them in the spring.

"We will hold elections when all necessary security guarantees are in place," Zelenskyy said in a voice message to reporters.

It's a simple matter: Establish a ceasefire, and there will be elections.

Sources told the Financial Times state that Ukraine is planning presidential elections and a vote on a peace treaty with Russia by May 15th, following an ultimatum from the United States.

According to the sources, the United States is threatening to otherwise withdraw promised security guarantees.
