The conversation, which took place on the US president's birthday on Sunday, lasted about half an hour, Zelenskyy's advisor Dmytro Lytvyn said.
The Ukrainian president wrote on X that he congratulated Trump and that they discussed "things that can contribute to creating peace."
"We agreed that we will continue the discussion at our meeting during the G7 summit in Évian, France, on Tuesday," Zelenskyy added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has also called and congratulated Trump in a conversation that, according to the Kremlin, lasted almost an hour.
They discussed both the war in Ukraine and the war in the Middle East, adviser Yuri Ushakov said, according to the Russian news agency Tass.
