Zelenskyy and Trump will meet on July 28, according to the White House. The talks follow increased diplomatic activity recently, in which Ukraine has intensified contacts with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
In addition, the US has eased the previous ban and now allows Ukraine to manufacture the Patriot air defence system under licence.
In an unexpected turn of events, American influencer and Trump ally Laura Loomer - who has previously been strongly critical of Ukraine - announced that she had met with Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Thursday and had changed her mind about the Russian war of invasion.
