Zelenskyy wrote on X that Malyuk is leaving his job as head of the SBU to instead focus on how Ukraine should improve its targeted operations against Russia in order to "inflict maximum damage on the enemy."
Malyuk is the latest in a series of high-ranking officials to be forced to leave their posts.
On Friday, Zelenskyy announced that he would replace the country's prime minister, Denys Shmyhal. On the same day, he appointed military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov as the new head of the Presidential Administration, after the previous chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, was forced to resign in November following a major corruption scandal.
