Since midnight, Russia has fired at least 800 drones, Zelenskyy stated in a post on X, adding that the attack is still ongoing.

"It certainly cannot be called a coincidence that one of the longest massive Russian attacks on Ukraine is taking place at the very time when the US president arrived in China for a visit - a visit from which much can be expected," Zelenskyy wrote on Wednesday afternoon.

He said that a large number of the country's regions have been attacked and that Russia has "deliberately targeted regions closest to the borders of NATO countries."

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy appealed to Donald Trump, who is meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday, to discuss an end to Russia's aggressive war.

"We are grateful and expect that the issue of ending the Russian war against Ukraine will be raised," Zelenskyy said in connection with a meeting in Romania, according to AFP.
