Zelenskyy announces government shake-up as Ukraine’s prime minister resigns

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a shake-up of the country's government. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko is leaving her post, he announced on X.

"I have offered her the opportunity to lead a new and important area of relations with a key partner," he wrote.

There will also be changes among the heads of law enforcement agencies, Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine needs to take some measures, including joining the European Union, to strengthen its border areas, the president wrote on X.

The government reshuffle requires parliamentary approval.

In January this year, Zelenskyy reshuffled the Ukrainian government following corruption allegations.
