”Gripen planes for Ukraine are part of our security guarantees – an air force that can fully protect our airspace", says Zelenskyj in a statement on social media.
”We are counting on 150 such planes to Ukraine, and the first are expected to arrive next year”, says Zelenskyj further.
On Wednesday, the news came, at a joint press conference in Linköping with Zelenskyj and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party), that Sweden and Ukraine have signed a declaration of intent regarding a deal of between 100 and 150 combat aircraft of new Gripen E to Ukraine.
A first possible delivery could take place within three years, if everything goes as it should, Kristersson has previously stated. First, the financing must be solved in the long term.
