"It is crucial for us to have President Trump's support. He wants to put an end to the war, but no one wants peace more than we do. We are the ones living in this war in Ukraine. It is a fight for our freedom, for our survival", he writes further.
"It will be difficult without the US's support. But we must not lose our will, our freedom or our people".
Ceasefire
Zelenskyj also mentions that a ceasefire will not work with Russia's President Vladimir Putin, but means that Putin has broken ceasefire agreements 25 times over the past ten years. "A real peace is the only solution".
Europe is ready for unforeseen events and to support the financing of Ukraine's army, writes Zelenskyj. But Ukraine needs the US's role in defining security guarantees. "When these guarantees are in place, we can talk to Russia, Europe and the US about diplomacy".
Landed in London
Furthermore, Zelenskyj means that it is understandable if the US seeks dialogue with Putin. "But the US has always talked about 'peace through strength'. And together we can take powerful steps against Putin", he writes.
Zelenskyj has now landed in the UK, reports The Guardian. This is ahead of Sunday's meeting where around 20 European leaders will participate. Sweden will also be present at the meeting.
