Please, before any form of decision, all forms of negotiations, come to meet and see people, civilians, soldiers, hospitals, churches, children destroyed or dead, says Zelenskyj in an interview with CBS.

You can go exactly where you want, in any city that has been exposed to attacks.

The Trump administration has established new contacts with isolated Russia, with clear wishes for the Russian invasion war in Ukraine to come to a swift end.

Kyiv has previously accepted an American proposal for an unconditional ceasefire, but Russian President Vladimir Putin has several times announced Russian reservations for a ceasefire.

Children killed

Instead, the Russian deadly attacks on Ukrainian cities have continued.

Putin cannot be trusted. I have told President Trump many times. So when you ask why the ceasefire is not working, this is the reason, says Zelenskyj.

Putin has never wanted to end the war. Putin has never wanted us to be independent. Putin wants to destroy us completely – our sovereignty and our people.

The interview was recorded in Zelenskyj's hometown Kryvyj Rih on Friday, where 20 people, including nine children, were killed in a Russian attack in early April.

Over 30 killed in new attack

On Sunday, over 30 people were killed and more than 100 injured when two Russian rockets hit central parts of the Ukrainian city of Sumy. Among the victims are several children.

Sunday's attack, which has sparked outrage and condemnation from many world leaders, took place two days after Friday's meeting on ceasefire between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg.

US President Donald Trump says on Monday night that the Russian attack is "terrible".

I think it was terrible. And I heard that they made a mistake. But I think it's a terrible thing. I think the whole war is a terrible thing, says Trump on board the presidential plane Air Force One, according to AFP.
