Trump has a golden opportunity to pressure Xi on Chinese support for Russia, claims the Ukrainian president.
I think it can be one of (Trump's) strongest moves, especially if China after the decisive sanction decisions is ready to reduce imports from Russia, says Zelenskyj to journalists on Tuesday.
China positions itself as neutral in the war in Ukraine, but continues to feed the Russian war chest with oil money and has, according to Ukraine, delivered materials that Moscow uses in the war.
In September, Zelenskyj told the UN Security Council that China holds the key to ending the war.
Without China, Putin's Russia is nothing, he said.
Last week, the US announced sanctions against the Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil. Shortly thereafter, reports emerged that four state-owned Chinese oil companies will stop importing Russian oil.
