"Volodymyr Zelenskyy may meet with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida as early as Sunday. Over the weekend, I think on Sunday in Florida, we will have a meeting with President Trump," the Ukrainian president told reporters, according to AFP.

Plans for a meeting between the two leaders have not yet been confirmed by the White House.

The latest round of negotiations between the US and Ukraine have resulted in a 20-point plan to end the Russian offensive war. The draft has been sent to Moscow. In addition to the overall plan, separate documents on security guarantees are on the table.

We will discuss these documents, says Zelenskyj regarding the upcoming meeting with Trump.

As for sensitive issues, we will discuss Donbass and the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, and we will definitely discuss other issues as well.

Want to join Europe

Economic issues are also a point of discussion according to Zelensky, writes AP. He also stresses that the negotiations must be broadened.

Without a doubt, we must find a format in the near future where not only Ukraine and the United States are present, but also Europe is represented.

According to Zelensky, the current draft meets 90 percent of Ukraine's requirements for a peace proposal.

Zelensky previously wrote on X that a meeting with Trump is imminent.

"We are not losing a single day," he wrote, continuing:

“A lot can be decided before the New Year.”

Intensive weeks

The statements come after Zelenskyy had a "really good conversation" with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Thursday about how to end the war with Russia.

"We have some new ideas about the format, the meetings and, of course, the schedule of how to get closer to real peace," Zelenskyy said in a video on X.

He added that "sensitive issues" still remain and that the coming weeks could be intense.

I thank everyone who continues to put pressure on Russia so that they fully understand that a prolonged war will have serious consequences - for Russia.

Trump has been pushing for a deal that could end the nearly four-year war.
