It is impossible, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says, according to AFP.
Instead, he reiterates Russia's demand that a meeting between the leaders can take place only in the Russian capital.
Zelenskyy's desire for a meeting during the G20 summit is expressed in an interview with Deutsche Welle:
Yes, of course. We have to go. We have to meet to talk and make decisions.
“Results count”
The president emphasizes in the interview that a possible exchange of words with Putin is not the most important thing.
"The results count. It's that simple," says Zelenskyy.
The United States, which is hosting the meeting, stated this spring that the plan was to invite Russia to the G20 meeting, but there has been no word on whether Putin intends to go or not.
Last week, Donald Trump's envoy visited both Moscow and Kyiv to try to revive US-led negotiations to end Russia's war in Ukraine. The talks were described as constructive, but no concrete progress was announced.
US hopes for progress
However, Jared Kushner, one of the American envoys, says he is hopeful that the process can move forward, AFP reports.
"I really hope that in the next few weeks we will be able to present what the next steps will be," Kushner said in a video appearance at an international conference in Kyiv on Friday, a statement that was made public on Saturday.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to “find a way forward,” which was met with laughter in the conference room.
