Around 2,000 Ukrainian children who were abducted to Russia have been allowed to return to Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement.

This was carried out through the Ukrainian initiative "Bring Kids Back", whose purpose is to bring home all Ukrainian children who were abducted by Russia in connection with its full-scale invasion.

"We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to this fight for the future of our children, our country, and the entire free world," Zelenskyy writes on X.

"The road ahead is still long and difficult. Thousands of Ukrainian children are still being held captive by Russia," he continues.
