Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says that Thursday's meeting in Kyiv with Donald Trump's envoy Keith Kellogg restores hope.

My meeting with General Kellogg was one that restored hope, and we need strong agreements with the US - deals that will really work, writes Zelensky on Friday night.

Economy and security must always go hand in hand, and the details of these agreements play a role - the better they are structured, the better the results, continues Zelensky after the meeting with Kellogg.

The US President Donald Trump is said to have demanded Ukrainian raw materials, assets, and infrastructure in exchange for continued assistance in the war against Russia. This includes so-called rare earth metals, which Ukraine is believed to have large quantities of.

Zelensky also thanks his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for advice and support after a long conversation about security guarantees against Russia.

We thoroughly discussed our views on security guarantees - a just and lasting peace is our common goal, and we are working together to achieve it. This is how real partners should cooperate, writes Zelensky about the conversation with Macron.
