Russia's president Vladimir Putin claims that he is ready to meet his Ukrainian counterpart – if the latter comes to Moscow. He can come to Kyiv, answers Volodymyr Zelenskyj.

If there is someone who does not want to meet, it is of course suitable to suggest something that cannot possibly be accepted, says Zelenskyj in an interview with ABC News.

I cannot go to Moscow when my country is being attacked with rockets every day. I cannot go to the capital of this terrorist, he continues.

Putin "understands this", according to Zelenskyj, and means that the offer is a way for the Russian president to postpone the meeting, he says.

A meeting between Putin and Zelenskyj has been pointed out by the US President Donald Trump as a priority to reach a peace agreement after the Russian war of aggression.

We cannot trust Putin. He is just playing with the USA, that's how I see it, says Zelenskyj.

It was during a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday that Putin said he was ready to meet Zelenskyj in Moscow. He repeated at the same time that Ukraine must not become a member of Nato and also claimed that Russia is not after territories but "fighting for the rights of the people".
