Zelenskyj will urge the country's parliament to organize elections when and if a ceasefire is achieved in the war against Russia.

He understands that the people may want "a leader with a new mandate", who can make decisions for a lasting peace, he says in "The Axios Show".

Since Russia launched its invasion war in Ukraine over three and a half years ago, all elections have been postponed. It has been questioned from several quarters, but according to Ukraine's constitution, it is not allowed to hold elections while martial law is in effect.
