After two days of negotiations in Switzerland, Russia and Ukraine still do not appear ready for a peace deal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy now says that “possible compromises” have not been discussed sufficiently, Reuters reports.

"At the moment, we cannot say that the result is satisfactory," Zelenskyy said in a speech on Wednesday evening.

The military discussed some issues in a serious and concrete way. Sensitive political issues, possible compromises and necessary meetings between leaders have not yet been sufficiently discussed.

Earlier on Wednesday, the message from both the White House and Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov was that the parties had made progress, even though the talks had been difficult.
