Zelenskyy arrived in London on Sunday for meetings with European leaders and a meeting with King Charles.

After meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the three issued a joint statement reiterating their support for Zelenskyy.

In addition, the three expressed “support for proposals for direct talks between Ukraine and Russia - with the active participation of the United States and European countries - to reach a ceasefire and support continued negotiations.”

Merz, Starmer and Macron also said that Zelenskyy's proposal for direct talks represents an opening:

“The current attitude of contact should be the starting point for negotiations,” they said.

Before the meeting, Zelenskyy had asked for support from leading EU countries and the United Kingdom.

“The main focus is our defense in the war, increased cooperation for the security of all of Europe on air defense, and our common view of diplomatic opportunities,” Zelenskyy wrote on X, adding that “Europe must be part of the negotiations and must be strong.”
