The two "discussed the circumstances surrounding Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as exchanged military and security-related experiences," Zelenskyy wrote on X after the meeting.
Issues related to Ukrainian exports of food and supplies were also raised, according to Zelenskyy.
Also on the trip to Damascus was Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan; the visit followed Saturday's talks in Istanbul between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Zelenskyy.
The two then agreed on efforts to strengthen security in the region, including for maritime traffic in the Black Sea.
They also discussed exchanging Ukrainian drone technology for air defense, for example.
