The two leaders discussed the potential role of the Saudis as mediators in the Russian war of aggression.
"I specifically emphasized the issue of releasing prisoners and returning our children, which can be a crucial step in building trust for diplomatic efforts," says Zelenskyj in a statement after the meeting, which was held in Riyadh.
The meeting also discussed the formats for the security guarantees required to achieve a lasting peace, according to Zelenskyj.
A Ukrainian delegation is simultaneously in Saudi Jeddah to meet with American representatives on Tuesday. The countries will move forward from the disaster meeting at the White House in Washington.
"We hope for concrete results. Ukraine's position in these talks will be fully constructive," says Zelenskyj about the upcoming meeting.
