"Our operation in the Kursk region continues", writes Zelenskyj on X.
"Our forces continue to hold back Russians and North Koreans", he continues.
"There is no encirclement of our troops."
In the statement, Zelenskyj also writes that Russia is gathering military resources for an attack on the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine.
On Friday, Russia's Vladimir Putin urged the Ukrainian forces in Kursk to lay down their arms and surrender in a televised comment. Their lives will then be spared and they will be treated with dignity, claims Putin.
Even USA's Donald Trump has, on Truth Social, described it as thousands of Ukrainian soldiers being surrounded by Russian military.
"I have strongly urged to spare their lives", wrote Trump.
