In Zelensky's daily video broadcast on social media, he said that the Ukrainian military commander Oleksandr Syrskyj has "reported on the situation at the front, including our presence in the Kursk and Belgorod regions".
It has been known since earlier that Ukraine has soldiers in place in the adjacent Russian Kursk region since the country began its offensive in the region eight months ago.
Last month, the president referred to "certain steps" taken in Russia "a bit below the Kursk region", which indirectly hinted at a presence in Belgorod. Russian military bloggers have previously also reported on fighting in the region.
Zelenskyj further said that the efforts in Kursk have reduced the pressure on the front in the Ukrainian Donetsk region.
