It has long been rumored that Nintendo will film one of its most popular games, "The Legend of Zelda". On Friday, the gaming giant announced that the film will have its world premiere on March 26, 2027.
The Zelda series has sold over 140 million games worldwide. The latest edition of the game, "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom", was released in 2023 and became the most successful so far.
It is Wes Ball, who has previously made films such as "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" and "The Maze Runner", who will direct the fantasy adventure.
Nintendo's latest film, "Super Mario Bros. The Movie" with voices by, among others, Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, grossed around 1.4 billion dollars in 2023, which only the "Barbie" film could surpass.
In contrast to Super Mario, however, "The Legend of Zelda" will not be animated but will feature real actors.
