On Friday evening, the national team announced that Modin would not start in Saturday's relay, in which Sweden finished in tenth place. A torn trachea ended his participation.
Modin will also miss Sunday's 20-kilometer race.
"Zebastian's cold has gotten worse and the decision has now been made that he will skip 20 km," the Swedish Paralympic Committee wrote, according to Expressen.
The 31-year-old took home bronze in both the sprint and 10-kilometer events, his ninth and tenth Paralympic medals.
