It was in response to a comment urging the 28-year-old to "read up" on the United Arab Emirates' alleged support for the paramilitary RSF in Sudan that Larsson said she would not perform during the F1 weekend, several media outlets report, referring to screenshots of the comment.

Races in the Middle East bring Formula 1 greater revenue, but their future is uncertain because of the conflict with Iran. It is not yet certain that this year's races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi in November and December can go ahead.

In response to another comment, Larsson reportedly wrote that the decision may seem impulsive, but that she had thought about it for some time.

"I've come to the conclusion that it's best for me right now not to do the gig," the pop star said, adding that she might delete the comments and make a "better statement soon," reports Vulture, among others.

The comments have since been deleted.

The organiser has not commented, and Larsson is still listed on the ticket website's information about the concert.
