Madonna tops this year's nominations list with 11 nominations, including in the categories of artist of the year and video of the year, writes The Wrap. American singer Taylor Swift receives nine nominations.
The category for best dance video is back after seven years. Zara Larsson's "Stateside" with PinkPantheress is nominated. It is up against Harry Styles' "Aperture", Lady Gaga and Doechii's "Runway", and Slayyyter's "DANCE...", among others.
In addition to best dance video, "Stateside" is nominated in four additional categories: best collaboration, song of the year, best set design and best visual effects.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be held on September 27 in Los Angeles, USA.
