The plant needs power to keep its six shut-down reactors cool.
“The situation shows once again why reliable external power supplies and secure supply routes are indispensable for nuclear safety,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in a statement.
“Military activity” is the cause of the power outage. According to the IAEA, attempts are underway to negotiate a local ceasefire to allow repairs to power lines.
The IAEA announced on Friday that the facility, which is controlled by Russian invasion forces, had been hit by three drones during the week.
