Ukraine reports that the nuclear power plant in the Russian-occupied part of Zaporizhzhia has been without electricity for four days.

Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha urges the outside world to pressure Moscow to safeguard the security of Europe's largest nuclear power plant.

"As a result of Russia's actions, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been without power", Sybiha writes on X.

The UN's atomic energy agency IAEA has not publicly commented on the reports.

Last week, reports emerged of an explosion at the nuclear power plant, according to Ukraine the explosion occurred in connection with a drone strike. Testimonies also spoke of Russian fighter jets flying over the area, and that a fighter plane had been shot down.

The nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia has been taken out of operation.
