Hammarby's handball team, in the club's first national championship final since the triple 2006-2008, were well on their way to snatching their first national championship final in Ystad.
At most, the Stockholm team led by five goals, 17-12, at the end of the first half. But Ystads IF came back, thanks to goalkeeper Erik Hvenfeldt who made many important saves in the second half.
The score was 26-26 with ten minutes left, when the home team made a push with three straight goals. Hammarby crept closer towards the end and got a tying opportunity in the final seconds. Then Max Gugolz shot outside when he had the chance to take the match to overtime.
Ystad won 32-31. The next final is played in Stockholm on Friday.
