On Thursday, the season's first elite16 tournament gets underway, i.e. the highest level of world tour tournaments in beach volleyball.
Then, giant stars David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig will have Swedish company in Mexican Quintana Roo, where the 24 best will clash.
Jacob Hölting Nilsson, 20, and Elmer Andersson, 18, are clear for play in the tournament, after qualifying on Wednesday. The young duo faced home players Ines Vargas Lares and Carlos Andres Ayala Herrera, and won in two straight sets.
The final scores were 21–10, 21–13.
This is the first time the duo qualifies for an elite16 tournament.
