A man in his 20s was found dead during the night to Saturday in the lake Båttjärnet in Mellerud municipality.
The rescue service was alerted to the site on Friday afternoon after an empty boat was found drifting on the lake.
One feared that someone was in distress, so the rescue service initiated a search effort and we assisted in the search, and unfortunately, a man in his 20s was found dead in the water, says Jon Franzén, duty officer at police region West.
It is not yet clear how the accident occurred.
