The third round of qualifying went Ymer's way, winning two of three sets (7–6, 4–6, 6–3).
Qualifying is lucrative for Ymer. If he goes out in the first round, he will take home 150,000 Australian dollars in prize money, which is equivalent to just under 922,000 Swedish kronor. If he advances one more step in the tournament, he will take home close to 1.4 million Swedish kronor.
Ymer has reached the main draw of the Australian Open three times before in his career, but has been eliminated in the first round each time.
The Swede is ranked 175th in the ATP rankings. In the first round he will face Alexander Shevchenko of Kazakhstan, ranked 104th.
The tournament starts on Sunday.
