In a post on Instagram, the Ylvis brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker write that they had planned to participate in Melodi Grand Prix, Norway's equivalent of Melodifestivalen.
"We made it clear to NRK early in the process that we do not want to be on the same stage as Israel," write Ylvis.
The duo write that they had hoped that the EBU, the European Broadcasting Union, would decide that Israel's broadcaster would not be allowed to participate in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
"We had been looking forward to putting on a show, playing our new super megahit and hopefully representing Norway in Vienna, but as the situation stands, it is not possible for us to do so," the brothers write.
