The warning is valid from Sunday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 11 p.m. in an area that extends over ski resorts such as Åre, Duved, Storlien and Funäsdalen, where many guests are during the current sports holiday.
"Cancel mountain trips if you are not used to the mountains," SMHI writes on its website.
The weather can make it difficult to move around and to pitch or anchor tents. The reduced visibility can also make it difficult to find your way around, according to SMHI.
The coldest temperatures are expected to be 14 to 15 degrees below zero in the area while the warning is in effect.
Corrected: In a previous version, there was incorrect information about when the warning applies.
