The warnings of heavy snowfall during the New Year's Eve and night apply to eastern Svealand, southern Gävleborg County, large parts of Svealand, and northern Götaland.

"A heavy snowfall is moving east during the New Year's night and is expected to cause major traffic problems", writes SMHI on its website.

It may snow 5-10 centimeters and locally up to 15 centimeters.

It may, among other things, become difficult to get around in traffic due to snow on roads, traffic accidents, or stationary vehicles.

Travel times may become longer due to slippery roads, poor visibility, and snowstorms.

On Monday, a yellow warning for wind has been issued in parts of northern Norrland, the Lapland Mountains, and the northernmost parts of the Jämtland Mountains.

SMHI warns of very strong winds in combination with intermittent heavy snowfall, as well as strong gusts and local storm gusts.

There is a risk that roads may be blocked by fallen trees or branches.

"Postpone the mountain tour if you are not properly mountain-experienced. It is difficult to orient yourself due to reduced visibility."
