China's President Xi Jinping is visiting Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia next week, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The visits will take place throughout the week and coincide with Beijing being in the midst of an escalating trade conflict with the US, where President Donald Trump has introduced 145-percent tariffs on Chinese goods.
The visit to Vietnam takes place at the invitation of President Luong Cuong, according to Beijing. Xi is then expected in Malaysia on Tuesday to Thursday.
The visit is part of the Malaysian government's efforts to establish better trade relations with various countries, including China, according to the country's Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
