China's and USA's leaders agree on not being completely in agreement about the media platform Tiktok's future in the USA. But progress was made in a conversation between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, claims USA's president who signals a future visit to China.

The two leaders spoke on the phone on Friday, and Xi was the first to say that the conversation had been constructive, but that the dispute over Tiktok should be resolved through "market rules" and that the US should avoid "unilateral trade decisions".

Trump announced in his turn on Truth Social that progress had been made regarding a Tiktok agreement, but said nothing about an agreement being concluded.

The US has demanded that Tiktok's Chinese owner Bytedance sell its American social media business but has on several occasions postponed the deadline for this. Earlier in the week, Donald Trump announced that the latest deadline for the Tiktok agreement between the US and China is extended to December 16.

On Monday, both parties stated that they had agreed on a "framework" for a Tiktok agreement, but no details have yet been revealed about it.

In connection with the conversation, Trump announced that he intends to attend a summit in Asia in the fall, and that he may travel to China next year.
