Prosecutors say Kouri Richins murdered her husband, Eric, in their Park City, Utah, home in March 2022 by putting fentanyl in his drink. Prosecutors say she was in debt and wanted to start her life over with another man. The trial begins Monday.
After her husband's death, Kouri Richins wrote the book "Are You With Me?", which was intended to support her children and others grieving the loss of a loved one. The book received attention, and Richins was interviewed on television.
But just weeks after the book was released, she was arrested in connection with the murder and is now on trial. Richins denies all charges.
Corrected: An earlier version stated the wrong time when she was arrested.
