The repository will host 20 writing workshops with authors and poets this fall. Each author will visit on two occasions and conduct the teaching in English and Swedish.
"At a time when young people are being deported from Sweden, we must also pay attention to the situation of people in detention. They are deprived of their liberty and often live with great uncertainty. Writing cannot change their situation, but it can offer an opportunity to try different ways of expressing themselves and explore language, form and experiences in their own words," says Elnaz Baghlanian, operations manager at Författarcentrum Öst, in a press release.
The project is being implemented with support from the Swedish Arts Council and the Stockholm Region.
