Jessica Campbell becomes the first woman to get a job on a coaching bench in an NHL team.

The 32-year-old, who played for Malmö in Division 1 ice hockey season 2019-2020, has been employed as an assistant coach in Seattle Kraken.

Campbell has worked as an assistant coach in AHL team Coachella Valley Firebirds, which is part of the same organization as Seattle, for the past two seasons.

During the 2022 World Championship in Finland, she was an assistant coach for Germany.

Two years ago, Washington Capitals hired a female video coach, Emily Engel-Natzke. It was the first time an NHL team employed a woman in an assistant coaching role.
