Wrexham have rocketed through the English professional football league system. Their success continues. Nottingham Forest were knocked out in the third round of the FA Cup.

Liberato Cacace, Oliver Rathbone and Dominic Hyam looked set to lead Wrexham to a 3–2 victory in regulation time.

But the entertaining match at the Racecourse Ground had more to offer, with substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi elegantly slotting home the equaliser in the penultimate minute to send the game into extra time.

It remained inconclusive, and the match went to penalties. There, goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo became the hero when he saved two penalties.

Wrexham has been the talk of the town since Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club a few years ago.

At the time, Wrexham played in the fifth division, the National League. This season, the club is one step away from the Premier League.

Whether the squad is strong enough to challenge for a place in the top flight this year remains to be seen. The club is not quite there yet - but the attacking force is sufficient to knock out a Premier League club in a single cup match.

The third round of the FA Cup - where clubs from the top league enter - offers several matches over the weekend.
