Miura, who is in his 42nd season as a professional footballer, scored the fifth goal in a cup match against lower-ranked opposition. His club, Fukushima United, plays in Japan's third-highest league.
Three minutes after the goal, “King Kazu” was substituted to a standing ovation. The match ended 7–0.
The legend is the oldest professional footballer at 59 years and 149 days old. He has previously represented clubs such as Brazil's Santos, Italy's Genoa and Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb during his career.
Kazuyoshi Miura made his debut for the national team in 1990 and made a total of 55 international appearances.
