World reknowned top chef Björn Frantzén hosts swedish TV show "100 knives" while opening his new restaurant Emberlin in Stockholm

Björn Frantzén has opened Emberlin, a grill restaurant at Stureplan, and is making his television debut in “100 knivar”. The chef, who has nine Michelin stars, says he could have 40 restaurants in five years.

“100 Knivar” (“100 Knives”) premiered on Sweden's TV4 and its streaming service TV4 Play on 20 October 2026. The broadcaster says it developed the new format with production company Mastiff.

Frantzén hosts the show and is its head judge. One hundred cooks, from food truck owners to fine-dining chefs, compete for a prize of 1 million kronor ($102,000), according to TV4. After an initial elimination, the remaining contestants form kitchen brigades and compete in teams.

Frantzén told TV4 in January 2026 that filming for “100 knivar” takes place during the day, leaving Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays free and evenings available for work. In October, he told TV4 that he had been able to plan the filming because he was approached early.

A CEO, an HR department and corporate chefs handle much of the Frantzén Group's operations, giving him more time to develop dishes in its Stockholm test kitchen, Portfolio reported in October 2026. Frantzén told the magazine that each restaurant has its own team and that expansion depends on trusted colleagues.

Frantzén's three Michelin-starred restaurants are Frantzén in Stockholm, Zén in Singapore and FZN in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Each holds three stars, the guide's highest rating, according to Robb Report Singapore.

The Stockholm restaurant received its third star in 2018, Zén in 2021 and FZN in 2025, the magazine reports. Zén opened in 2018 and serves food rooted in Nordic cuisine, with French techniques and Japanese influences, according to Portfolio.
