Bellman is best known as a poet and lyricist, and "The Temple of Bacchi" is described as his only "perfect song play".
The story includes figures such as Ulla Winblad, Mollberg and Trundman. Festival director Peter Pontvik calls the premiere "a music-historical sensation".
"I am proud that we can contribute to the rediscovery of an important piece of Swedish music history," he says in a press release.
In addition to "The Temple of Bacchi", which will be performed at the German Church in Stockholm on June 6, the 25th anniversary festival also features a French baroque opera by Mademoiselle Duval, a visit from the British vocal ensemble The Sixteen and the feature Baby Baroque. The festival runs June 3–7.
