The world number one, Henrik von Eckermann, and the horse Iliana, treated the audience in Gothenburg to a great show when he won the five-star 1.55-meter jumping competition on Saturday evening after a thrilling jump-off.
The Swedish star was one of 13 faultless riders in the initial round, and in the jump-off, he – as so many times before – showed why he is ranked number one in the world.
Despite being a bit behind time-wise halfway through the jump-off, he managed to win after putting the pedal to the metal at the end.
Some victories are better than others, and this one was really special, says von Eckermann to SVT after the win.
The Frenchman Kevin Staut came in second, beaten by 22 hundredths.
