The world number one in tennis, Jannik Sinner, is out of Wimbledon.

After a long and chaotic five-setter, which included a longer medical timeout, the Italian fell to world number five Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals.

In the beginning of the third set, the world number one called in a doctor and clearly showed that he was not feeling well and was dizzy in the head.

After having his blood pressure checked on center court at Wimbledon, he eventually had to leave the court for further treatment. The Italian came out again, about twelve minutes later, and managed to continue the match, even though he was still visibly physically affected.

Came back

Sinner lost the third set in a tie break, but managed to take the fourth and took it all the way to a fifth and decisive set.

There, Medvedev got an early break and managed to hold on. During the fifth set, Sinner was also seen limping and holding his lower back.

Thus, world number five Medvedev is through to the semifinals, while world number one Sinner is out already in the quarterfinals.

"Make him suffer a little more"

After the match, Medvedev talked about his opponent's medical timeout.

I noticed that he wasn't feeling well after a while, but I knew it could pass quickly and then he started playing better again, says Medvedev after the match and continues:

I noticed that he wasn't moving particularly well for a while there, and that's always tough, because then you want to play more balls to make him suffer a little more... In a good way.

Medvedev will face Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, who defeated 13th-ranked Tommy Paul in his quarterfinal.

The final score was 6–7, 6–4, 7–6, 2–6, 6–3 to Medvedev.
