The Wimbledon curse persists for world number one in tennis Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian fell in the semifinal against world number twelve Amanda Anisimova who will face world number four Iga Swiatek in Saturday's final.

Anisimova is in her first Grand Slam final after beating Sabalenka with set scores 6–4, 4–6, 6–4.

It feels unreal, to be honest. Aryna is such a tough opponent. It was absolutely like I died out there. I do not know how I managed to (win), says the 23-year-old American in Max.

It is the third time in five years that Sabalenka, who has never made it to the final in the classic grass tournament, is eliminated in the semifinal.

In Saturday's afternoon final outside London, Iga Swiatek awaits Amanda Anisimova.

The Polish world four was superior to the 35th-ranked Swiss Belinda Bencic in her semifinal and won in two straight sets with scores 6–2, 6–0.

It will be the first Wimbledon final also for Swiatek who previously has five Grand Slam titles, four from the French Championships and one from the US Open.
