World number one Iga Swiatek advanced to the fourth round of the US Open without major difficulties when she defeated Russian Anastasija Pavljutjenkova, 6–4, 6–2.
The Pole, who has a US Open trophy among her five Grand Slam titles, started the match by breaking her opponent's serve. Then Pavljutjenkova picked up her game and the first set became relatively even.
However, it never became a major challenge for Swiatek, who will next face Ljudmila Samsonova, also from Russia.
