Just over a week ago, world number one Jannik Sinner withdrew from the ATP tournament in Beijing due to a knee injury - now comes the next withdrawal.
On social media, the Italian announces that he will not be taking part in the Masters 1000 Shanghai Masters.
"Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped," he writes.
The five-time Grand Slam winner has not played since his victory at Wimbledon in July, and his absence opens the way for world number two, German Alexander Zverev, to move closer in the world rankings.
The Shanghai Masters begins on October 5th.
